Spicy Potato Soup (WF, GF, DF)

A hearty soup to warm you up.



  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2cm piece of ginger, grated
  • 300g potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chicken stock (choose a vegetarian stock such as the Massel brand)
  • 1 cup coconut milk or 1 tablespoon coconut
  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or Dr. Bronners Mineral Mixture
  • Juice from ½ lemon
  • 1 teaspoon raw sugar


  1. Saute onion, garlic and ginger in oil.
  2. Add potatoes, turmeric, coriander, salt, chicken or vegetable stock, coconut milk or coconut to saucepan. Simmer until potatoes are well cooked.
  3. Puree vegetable mixture if a smoother consistency is desired.
  4. Add cabbage, soy sauce or Dr. Bronners Mineral Mixture, lemon juice and raw sugar. Boil for a further 5-7 minutes.
